What This Site Collects

This site sets no cookies and collects nothing itself. Fonts and images are served from this site itself. Google Analytics runs only if you allow it, and the contact form and its spam check load only on the contact page; both are described below, as is the hosting.

Google Analytics

If you allow it in the consent bar, this site loads Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics then sets cookies whose names start with _ga and sends Google your IP address, browser details, the pages you open, and the page you came from. Google may process this data in the United States, under the Google Privacy Policy. The legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

Your choice, allow or decline, is kept in your browser's local storage so the bar does not ask again. You can withdraw consent at any time with the "Analytics choice" link in the footer: it deletes the analytics cookies and asks again.

Hosting

The site is hosted on GitLab Pages and on Cloudflare Pages. When you open a page, the host you reach, GitLab Inc. or Cloudflare, Inc., receives your IP address and browser details and may keep them in server logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. Both are based in the United States and process this data under the GitLab Privacy Statement and the Cloudflare Privacy Policy. On the Cloudflare copy, Cloudflare also counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is always on and does not depend on the consent bar. It sets no cookies and uses no local storage, and Cloudflare states that it does not track you across sites or build profiles of visitors. It records which pages are opened, where visitors came from, and their country, browser and device type. The legal basis is a legitimate interest in running a secure website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Contact Form

If you send a message from the contact page, your name, email address and message go to Web3Forms, which emails them to me, under the Web3Forms Privacy Policy. I use them only to reply, and delete them once the conversation is over unless you ask me to keep them. The legal basis is a legitimate interest in answering you (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

To keep out spam, the contact page loads hCaptcha, which checks that a person is sending the message. hCaptcha receives your IP address, browser details and how you interact with the check, under the hCaptcha Privacy Policy. The legal basis is a legitimate interest in protecting the form from abuse (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
